Other alloys

Due to the high melting point, copper is a very well-alloyed with other metals. Most often alloyed with: zinc, tin, nickel, aluminum, manganese, silicon, beryllium, silver and gold (which significantly improved their mechanical properties).
According to the nature of alloying elements are:

    a zinc-free alloys (bronze) and
    b. zinc alloy (brass, iron red).

According to the alloying elements, divided into two major subgroups
    - Tin (as the principal alloying elements)
    - Special (where the main alloying elements of aluminum, lead, silicon, nickel, manganese, beryllium, chromium ... these are therefore called: aluminum bronze, leaded bronze ...).
Tin increases the strength and hardness of alloy, decreases ductility and toughness to a specific attack. Mechanical properties of tin bronzes depend mainly on the percentage of tin in the alloy (usually no more than 20% Sn). The use of bronze is manifold: the creation of parts exposed to high pressure and friction gears, rotors and casings for turbines and pumps ...
Special bronze in certain characteristics beyond tin bronze, with a lower cost.
Brass is alloys of copper and zinc (not more than 44% Zn) and copper alloys with zinc and lead (up to 4% Pb). These alloys have excellent structural properties, high technology and mechanical properties.
Red iron
Red iron alloy is copper with tin and zinc (containing 2-10% Sn, 2-10% Zn and 0-6% Pb), usually with an increased content of tin - zinc content is lower and vice versa. These alloys are used for making valves for water and steam, valve, battery, friction wheels...
